TOM JAY, SCULPTORTom Jay and his wife Sara Mall Johani, also a sculptor, operate The Lateral Line Bronze Casting Foundry in Chimacum, WA, and work as a creative team. Together they have a total of thirty commissioned public sculptures in the Northwest region including bronzes “Salmon Woman and Raven” in Bellevue’s Highland Park, “Heroic Chum” in Irondale, “Finn and the Salmon of Wisdom” and “Witness” in Port Hadlock, and Cencom’s “Kitsap Serenity Bell” in Bremerton. In November of 2011Tom and Sara’s work was featured in a two person show at the Northwind Arts Center, Port Townsend, WA. Tom’s art is represented by the Stonington Gallery, Seattle, WA.Tom has been an active member of the Northwest Art Community since 1966, when he built the first bronze casting facility for Seattle University. He went on to supervise and construct casting facilities at the University of Washington. Upon graduation, with an MFA from the University of Washington in 1969, he established *Riverdog Fine Arts Foundry which cast, in addition to his own work, sculpture for such notable N.W. sculptors as Tony Angell, Hilda Morris, Phil Levine, Richard Kirsten, Louise McDowell, George Tsutakawa, Everett DuPen, Ann Morris, John Hoover, Marvin Oliver, Larry Anderson, Gizel Berman, Doug Granum, Barry Herem, Clayton James, Jeff Day and others. Tom is a published poet and author. Additionally he has been active in several community organizations including: Wild Olympic Salmon: Six years active participation. |
